Own a Franchise

Background and History

The fundamental idea behind the ECL franchise mechanism, was to foster entrepreneurship create entrepreneur opportunities for people from all walks of life and form a channel for social change. This ideology led to the insight to create budding entrepreneurs out of energetic business-minded individuals, who had the desire but lacked the guidance and the resources to start on their own. Their alignment with ECL through the low-cost franchise system supported their requirements of capital, access to technology, equipment and knowledge. This ignited their pursuit for enterprise and transformed ECL into a household name. It also created uncharted employment avenues for the downtrodden and empowered innumerable first-time, independent and unorganized entrepreneurs.

It was an extraordinary vision of ‘sharing of wealth’ that went on to extend entrepreneurship opportunities for urban and rural population as well. This was achieved by setting-up at least one franchisee, at subsidized rates, the scope of this franchise chain never ends. ECL is now running a special project to facilitate subsidized outlets for Army people who suffer injuries at work.

How We Work

Structure

Aligned with its founding principles, ECL’s (Express Courier Link) franchisee model is designed to address the requirements of a robust Pan-Pakistan presence and highest service levels for clients. Internationally, ECL ensures presence via subsidiaries, joint ventures, representative offices and franchisees as well. Once the system will be in place, the following categories of franchisees will operate in ECL as a key elements of its framework:

  • Basic Unit Franchisee (BF): This will be the most basic form of franchisee in the ECL system, which will cover more than 95 percent of its network and contributes to 75 percent of its business. This type of franchisee represents a single shop/outlet with a particular Customer code / Franchisee Code. They will be responsible for serving the customers through that outlet and will have the authority to enhance business with close proximity of their locality to include nearby markets / buildings etc (As approved by ECL head / regional office).
  • Area Franchisee (AF): Area franchisee will represents a franchisee-operated unit in an area within the city limits as defined by the Regional Office with the authority of opening / operating 1 -4 BF’s within assigned area. For e.g. In Lahore, Gulberg or DHA may be defined as a MF area. The AF will be responsible for operations and development of other franchisees within its territory and will act on behalf of ECL regional office (Once authorized) to enhance sales / business development by engaging corporate clients.
  • City Franchisee (CF): Super franchisee represents a franchisee-operated unit in an independent territory or district within a region, with more than five (5) reporting franchisees under its domain. It acts as an extended branch that is responsible for business development, operations and servicing of the clients. They are a key member of the system and the appointment procedure for SF is different from the two franchisee categories mentioned above.
  • Retail Shop Franchisee (RF): An experienced individual from the industry, with basic office infrastructure, an investment capacity and business contacts with corporate houses, is eligible to become an ECL Corporate Franchisee to promote its products and services. This is a highly specialized form of franchisee, which the company will only appoint selectively.

All categories of franchisees are responsible for the protection of ECL brand and upholding the corporate image in their territory or area of operations. New franchisees are given the opportunity to join as Basic Unit Franchisee, and slowly progress to higher categories explained above.
